        10.19.24 - Dems Greet Dan and Dana!

        Democrats gathered to meet candidates Dan Aymar-Blair and Dana Peterson this past Saturday.   Dan and Dana  responded to a wide range of questions covering infrastructure, public safety, the cost of living, housing and the competitive challenges of their campaigns.  Many thanks to Dan and Dana and all turned out!

          5.9.24: RESIDENTS TURN OUT FOR EVENING WITH RBK TOWN SUPERVISOR SPINZIA

          Thirty-five residents attended a speaking event featuring Rhinebeck Town Superivsor Elizabeth Spinzia.

            6.11.23: Dr. Oliver Fein leads informative 'New york health care act' discussion

            The NY Health Act (Single-Payer Bill) drew a crowd of indviiduals familar and supportinve of the Act as well as many learning critical details for the first time.

            Oliver Fein, MD, Professor Emeritus, Cornell Weill Medical School and active member of American Public Health Association.  Dr. Fein is a strong advocate of single payer financing for non-profit health care

            Attendees were reminded  the pending legislation is supported by Senator Hinchey and Assemblywoman Shrestha.

            A  lively Q&A followed Dr. Fein's informative presentation. 

            5.21.23 : Large audience on hand for Senator Hinchey visit

            Senator Hinchey provided Democrats,  and Indpendents, from Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Hyde Park an insightful summary of the State budget.

            The Senator  direclty addressed buget related questions covering education (including Universal Pre K ), housing, Central Hudson and taxes.

            Senator Hinchey  also tackled questions speciic to national isses including immmigration,  healthcare and railway transportation. 

            Tommy Zurhellen, the Democratic candidate for Dutchess County Executive, attended the Senator's presentation and received a warm reception from all in attendance. 

            4.24.23: emily sachar captivates audience with local journalism talk

            On Monday evening the Rhinebeck Democrats Club welcomed Emily Sachar, Founder/Editor-in-Chief and CEO of The Daily Catch as our featured speaker. 


            With over 40 people in attendance Emily spoke about the challenges of starting a local newspaper.  

            Emily also discussed  the six awards they received from the NY Press Association Better Newspaper contest.   

            Emily shared two recently launched projects, the Pod Catch and the Short Catch, and why they extended their geographical news coverage to Rhinebeck and what they want to accomplish.

            Walter Mulllin, The Daily Catch publisher, joined Emily for audience Q&A.

              9.28.22: - Club Cheers Hudson Valley Pilot Presenters

              Mark Fuerst, the founder of the Hudson Valley Pilot, furnished an insightful and highly engaging presentation.  Sharing his extensive research and knowledge Mark explained to the roomful of local residents the current state of national and regional news coverage.   Mark encouraged attendees to sign-up for HVP's newsletter.

               

              Eric Steinman is the editor of the Hudson Valley Pilot and provided examples of news to be covered which included our Rhinebeck schools, local government and businesses while also collaborating with other Hudson Valley journalists to cover the 2022 elections. Eric also asked residents sign-up for HVP's newsletter. 


              NOTE:  Many of the attendees have already enrolled for the HVP newsletter!

              We also had  a short presentation from Zachary Brower , Pat Ryan's campaign liaison for Dutchess County.  Zach led off the meeting providing important information about the race and appreciated the club's commitment for its continued support.
